Castoreum price per kg: what sets the price

Why there is no fixed price list

Castoreum comes from wild Canadian beaver, and the supply depends on each season's harvest. A price list would be out of date within weeks, so we quote every order in writing against the lot that is actually available.

What decides the price per kg

• Grade. Grade 1 matched pairs cost the most per kg, Grade 2 sits in the middle and Grade 3 extraction grade is the most economical. See the grade guide.
• Quantity. The minimum order is 50 kg. Larger bulk orders usually earn a better price per kg.
• Harvest and supply. When the season's supply is short, prices rise. When it is plentiful, they ease.
• Dryness. Fully dried, well-cured pods mean you pay for castoreum, not water. All our lots are fully dried before they are weighed.
• Destination and freight. Castoreum usually travels by air freight, which is charged by weight and route.
• Documents. Some destinations need extra certificates, which can add to the cost.
• Payment terms. The terms you choose can also affect the final price.

What your quote includes

Each written quote sets out the grade, the price per kg, the quantity, the shipping options to your country and the documents that will travel with the order. We also send current photos of the lot, so you know exactly what you are paying for.

How to get an accurate quote

1. Tell us the grade you want, or what you will use the castoreum for.
2. Tell us the quantity, from 50 kg upwards.
3. Tell us your delivery country, and your airport if you know it.
